Blue Tree appoints Sergio San Martín as general director for Chile

  • With a broad professional experience in the sector and the region, he will lead the firm’s asset management services in Chile

Madrid, June 1st 2017– Blue Tree Asset Management (BTAM), a firm specialized in the comprehensive management of renewable energy projects, has appointed Sergio San Martín as its General Director for Chile.

With a broad professional experience in the energy sector and also in the region, he will lead the firm’s growth strategy in this market. After his trajectory at Vestas and Tritec, San Martin has led the management of investors’ renewable portfolios in Chile, like the case of Sunedison. He has a degree in Commercial Engineering by the University of Concepción and an MBA by the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland).

The incorporation of Sergio San Martín shows Blue Tree’s commitment to the Latin American market and, in particular, to the Chilean market, where the company has developed the specialization of its liquidation management service, supervision of CEN (former CDEC) balance sheets, as well as the billing management derived from the sale of energy and its payment.

In Chile, Blue Tree works for both ‘utility scale’ plants and less than 9 MW projects, known as PMGD. It also manages different Asset Management services.

More than 85 MW under its management in LATAM

Blue Tree manages a portfolio of more than 360 MW of photovoltaic and wind power projects for its clients, under a business model based on the independence and specialization and focused on all areas of Asset Management (technical, economic-financial and legal).

In Latin America, Blue Tree has a management portfolio of 86 MW of various international investment funds: 60 MW of them are located in Chile.

The firm works for a great number of clients with renewable energy assets, from smaller scale private investors to major institutional investors at an international level, including investment funds and banking entities. Blue Tree has designed an ambitious business plan that will lead to the management of 1,000 MW in three years, consolidating its presence in Europe and other LATAM countries, such as Chile and Uruguay where it already operates; and positioning itself in strategic markets including the United States, United Kingdom and Mexico.
